Boston 2010

We took a quick trip to Boston this weekend. It was our first time getting out of the city since June and I have to say, it was great! Some of the trees were already changing colors which was beautiful. Can you believe there was grass in the median of the roads and that it grows wild here {can you tell I have spent my whole life in the desert}?! We took a bus up there and had the perfect seats...top level front row. We could see everything perfectly...it was a great experience. The first thing we did when we arrived was head over to Quincy Market for dinner. On Friday we walked around town and enjoyed all the pretty places. We also ate at Anna's Taqueria which was soo good! Its the best mexican food I've had in a long time. So after a long day of walking, we headed back to get on the bus to come home. I checked in and the lady says "so your leaving tomorrow?" Apparently I bought tickets for the wrong day but she was able to switch us. We had a great time on our quick little vacation!

Preschool!

Today Merrick went to his first day of PrEsChooL!! It was a success! He jumped right in and loved playing with the other kids. The school is amazing with tons of activities to keep him occupied. When it was "play time" we went downstairs to the big open room. The first thing he spotted was the basketball hoop in the corner and ran straight to it. He will be going one day a week and Im glad he will be getting some social interaction with other boys and girls. Of course I had to get the classic 1st day of school pose in front of the door.
This afternoon I tried to take a few pictures of him cause he looked so stinkin' cute! I even bribed him with Toy Story stickers but this is what I got...

Sept 11th

I never really understood the magnitude of September 11th til I moved here and got to see it in real life. Now we live literally 3 blocks from Ground Zero and we get to pass it everyday. Its hard to imagine how big the towers actually were but if they were still standing we would be able to see them out our windows. Last night we walked around the area where the ceremoy was held today to honor the people who lost their lives nine years ago. It was almost eery to think about how many people were affected by it and still are today. As a tribute, there are two shining beams of light that represent the buildings. Its really neat to see. The lights beem so high!

09.06.10

Today is my 23rd birthday! I love it that every few years it falls on LaBoR  DaY. To celebrate we went out to Benihana's for dinner. I love that place! The best part was that Merrick behaved. He was so fascinated by it all that he just sat there. Of course he refused to eat any of the food {except my ice cream} so we had to get him a sandwich on the way home but oh well. We had a great time!

Typical New York...it was on the second floor!

Summer's Over

We as a family of three have spent the last 3 months together. We have had some of the best adventures and endured some pretty hard trials this summer. But now the days of spending 24/7 together are over. Danny started school on Wednesday and we are all excited! I love spending all my time with my boys but now we can get back into a routine cause lets be honest...Merrick is on a teenagers schedule. Goes to bed late, wakes up late and stays out wayy to late.
The night before school started we went on one last summer adventure! Danny had the craving for Krispy Kreme donuts. We get on the train and head to Penn Station because there is a little stand there. We arrive and they are "temporarily closed". So we make our way outside only to be consumed by a sea of tweenage girls in purple. Thats right...Justin Bieber concert! We managed to score some cardboard fans with his face on them. Yay for us! 34th street isnt the best place to look for food unless you want Merrick's favorite {McDonald's french fries} so back on the train to try out another place in Chelsea. Well long story short, we ended up eating at Five Guys. I had never been there before and it took me moving to NY to give it a try!
{Yes he is drinking Diet Coke. Like I said, we were still on summer vacation!}

We also went to Sports Authority to pick out a baseball glove for Merrick. I'm thinking maybe next summer he will be able to play catch with Danny and actually know what he is doing. We settled on a new basketball instead!

As I mentioned before Danny's first day of school was yesterday! I asked if I could take a picture of him but he said no. Anyways, yesterday afternoon he was invited to go to the Yankees game with a guy and his two boys in the ward {they are practically family...really :)} but it was at the same time as school. Decisions, decisions!! Guess what he chose....
BOTH!!!
Thanks again Bryce Family!!
