Moomah

Moomah is this fun little cafe and arts place for children. We went yesterday with our friends for the first time and it was lots of fun! The kids choose an art project they want to create. Merrick chose a spaceship to go with Buzz Lightyear. He got to choose six different colors to paint with and they even give you a paintbrush for each color{thats very generous of them...i normally make him use the same one for ALL colors} Even with the spock, he managed to get paint on both me and him. I wish I would have got a picture of Merrick and Addie with their final creations! Afterward we had a healthy lunch at the cafe there and walked home. A good Monday :)

Thanksgiving and an update

My first Thanksgiving was a success! I was so glad when we cut into the turkey that it was fully cooked and actually tasted good. Before we ate, we went around the table and said what we were grateful for. Merrick said he was thankful for "M&M's, Toy Story and Toy Story book too" It was just us three so we didnt have the full on dinner like normal. We still ended up with tons of leftovers though. For dessert we headed over to a family friends house and had pie and other yummy desserts. They were good!

Wednesday night we headed out to the Upper West Side to check out all the balloons that were going to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. It was a big event with lights and announcments and a path you had to stay on. It was cold and crowded but we managed to make our way through the crowd and take some pictures.

Last weekend for our anniversary, Danny and I got to go see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular! It was the first time we have gone out by ourselves here in NYC. And the show was great. I think I want to go see it again. The Rockettes seriously know what they are doing. Those kicks of theirs are completely in sync. Plus the  Nativity scene at the end was just what we needed to get us in the mood for Christmas!!

In October Danny's brothers Casey and Pierce came to visit!! We went out to dinner at Lombardi's one night, then up to Times Square. After that we stopped by the Manhattan Temple to check it out. I think their favorite place was FAO Schwartz though :) Plus they got to see Wicked while they were here! I'm a little jealous because I haven't seen it yet. I love having visitors stay with us!

I know this picture is really hard to tell but its my PROOF! I saw Rachel from GLEE!!! We were eating dinner at Corner Bistro which is this really tiny place that seats like twenty people, is really dark and is cash only. I look over and think "wow that girl looks alot like the girl from glee" and of course I kept checking to make sure it was her without staring. Sure enough it was Lea Michele. Thats my 3rd celebrity siting so far.

The 22nd of November

Monday was our anniversary! I cannot believe we have been married for 4 years already. I remember the day we got married perfectly but the rest is all a blur. A good blur! I'm grateful to have such a wonderful husband who  encourages me to grow and learn everyday and challenges me to be better. He is such an amazing dad to Merrick. I love watching them play together! Merrick wants to do everything he does like riding the scooter or wearing a watch or eating Lucky Charms for breakfast. I'm glad we "tied the knot" for eternity four years ago and I can't wait to see what the rest of our lives hold in store.

This is my child who will watch anything on the Disney Channel because it has Mickey Mouse ears at the bottom of the screen. He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

Happy Birthday to You!

This past Saturday was Danny's birthday! I think he had a good time besides the fact that he thinks he's getting old :) Friday night we went out to dinner with Kyle and Alisa. We went to John's Pizzeria and i'm pretty sure we will be going back! It was soo good plus they gave us some more restaurants to try out in the area. I loved talking with Alisa...she used to live here and gave me some great advice! On Saturday, we tried something NEW! We headed up to the Upper West Side to eat at this Turkish place. It was fun to experience different food that we have never eaten before. As Danny said...some of it was an "acquired taste." For dessert, i had to improvise. We had no chocolate cake mix in the house but I was wanting to use buttercream frosting so....we had brownies instead! I wasn't sure if it would turn out so thats why only half of it is frosted :) That way if it was absolutely gross, we still had half a pan of brownies to eat! Needless to say... it was delicious! Merrick kept saying "happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me," he even helped blow out the candles. Happy Birthday Danny!!!

The Rink at Rock

When Rachel and Hannah were here we went to Rockefeller Center. They already had the ice skating rink up and running. Merrick and I watched all the brave kids skating around. It makes me excited for Christmas time here!! I can't wait to see the big Christmas tree in a few weeks.

In Love with Fall

Who knew this time of year could be sooo gorgeous! The trees are all golden yellow, bright orange or fading to a light brown. As we were walking to the park the other day, the ground was literally covered in leaves. I love it when the trees are a few different colors. I've never experienced a Fall like this before. The weather is getting cold though so I have to enjoy my last few weeks before being bundled up til next year. Most days there is a little bite in the air but definately managable....for now. Our walks in the evening are becoming a little shorter. I have been wanting to visit Central Park to see all the leaves changing, all the colors of Fall and mostly just to enjoy actually having four seasons!

Halloween in NYC

Halloween here in Manhattan is like nothing else. There were tons of fun and festive events all around the city. Probably more than I've ever participated in my entire life! We managed to score a bucket full of candy that now sits on top of the fridge. I don't want to even look at it...way too tempting! Saturday, in true church fashion, we had a trunk-or-treat at our building along with a chili cook-off. There were fun little games the kids played then they went around the 2nd floor knocking on doors trick-or-treating. Merrick kept offering his candy from his bucket to the person behind the door. It was pretty funny! He also couldn't understand why he couldn't go to nursery. Poor kid. He love love loves going to nursery!

So if you're wondering how the heck you go trick-or-treating here since no one has houses, let me tell you. Our building, and all the others, had a sign-up sheet and if you wanted to participate you received a paper pumpkin to put on your door.  So to each floor you go looking for an orange paper pumpkin taped to the front door. The Herway's invited us to go with them through their building which was great. Theirs is huge! Plus they had a list of ALL the apartments participating in all of Battery Park City!! That saved us some time. Some doors were all decked out as haunted houses which was neat. Others Merrick wouldn't even go to without some reassurance from his dad :) We had a great time doing the "normal" Halloween tradition here!

Oh and Merrick loved his costume!!! He still wants to wear the Woody Hat everyday.
