Smore's Please

Tonight we made a creative version of smore's! We dipped the marshmallows in melted chocolate then rolled them in crushed graham crackers...pretty simple and pretty good! My kitchen helper did a great job smashing the graham crackers.

Do you notice the one marshmall?! It was in line with the others but somehow
half of it disappeared. Hmmm....

Mean Elevator

We had our first encounter with smashed hands yesterday. Merrick's little hand got caught in the elevator door as it was opening. He was holding onto the door and forgot to remove it as it slid open. It was one of those moments where you watch it happen and you think please dont let his fingers be broken...I mean they are jammed in a really heavy door afterall and the door is still trying to open. Danny and I frantically worked together to get his poor little digits out. He pushed on the door while I yanked his hand out. LUCKILY a bandaid and a good 10 minutes of crying made it all better!
Even though only one got caught...he still needed a bandaid for each hand!

This and That

*This post is of things I want to remember.

Merrick cracks me up! Today on the ferry, he would not stop repeating this phrase until I figured out what he was saying. I eventually guessed it correctly. He was saying "Dory hungry" cause Danny had thrown some food out the window. He does this often. He will keep saying it over and over until you get it right.

On the 20 minute bus ride today, he began every single sentence with "Mamma..." and he talked the whole bus ride! When I stopped looking at him and responding, he began grabbing my chin and turning it to him so I had to say "what Merrick." I am amazed that I can now have conversations with my baby!!

Two days ago, there was a huge 10 legged bug on the wall. When I saw it I freaked out and shouted "Holy Cow theres a huge bug on the wall...." For the next few hours Merrick kept pointing to the spot on the wall saying "Hoyy Cow...mamma sceared."  And if you get a chance, ask Merrick to say New Jersey. I love it!!

Danny got to be on tv! We were strollin' down the street when a reporter asked him his thoughts about the mosque near Ground Zero. Needless to say his answer got him on the news!

West Thames Park

We have spent many hours at this park! I would say its our favorite. It has everything a kid could ask for. Green grass, sand, water, splash pads, slides, crazy contraptions that you can climb up, basketball hoops and this modern merry-go-round. We generally stick to the sand and water area though! The best part is that its at the end of our street :)

The View

I have attempted to post pictures of our new apt but that will have to wait until I actually have it organized! I thought I would show you what we get to enjoy when we walk outside everyday!
{straight out our building door}
The short distance we have to walk to the water!
{turn left}
Im sure long time New Yorkers are not as impressed with it but I still think its awesome that we get to see the Statue of Liberty everyday!
{turn right}
That is Jersey!!!
The esplanade path that runs along the river! I think its beautiful, probably because there are actual green trees and flowers

ZOO York

Saturday we went to the Bronx Zoo!!! We had a great time but only made it through half the zoo before it was nap time.

{Like father. Like son}

This leopard was the prettiest animal in the whole place!

The Bronx River

We took a train ride around part of the park. We got to sit front row in the car and Merrick loved to look at all the animals!
Mongolian Horses. They are the only true wild horse left.

"Blues Clues"

Merrick's favorite animal by far. The Sea Lions!!!

Where to begin...we moved!!! We finally have a place of our own here in the City and let me tell you, its been great! We live in an awesome area for kids. They have some of the coolest parks around us plus its right on the river so every evening so far we have taken walks up and down the water. The weather this week has been amazing! We have been outside so much. Its a completely different summer than in AZ. Since we moved here with nothing, and i mean nothing {no furniture, no kitchen items, no electronics, no bedding, no toys, no bathroom stuff, no decor, just our clothes} its been fun, for me anyways, to go shopping! We took the ferry to Ikea in Brooklyn Saturday to get a few items but could only buy what we could carry home. i miss our car. I miss being able to go to any store I wanted and buy anything i wanted. I always knew I could take it home! Now i have to think about what I am going to buy and they don't have all my go-to stores here! I am relying heavily on Target, Ikea and this store called LotLess to stock my house! Since I know some of you are wanting to know about our place I will tell you about it. Its your typical Manhattan apartment. SMALL!! Although its right on the river, we look the opposite direction at some skyscrapers. I am going to do my best to take pictures tomorrow and post them!
